This is good to hear but somewhat ironic, as everyone knows "An Apple a day..."

Apple and Healthcare.
Apple is strengthening its presence in this key market. Statistics show that in France alone, the Mac is being used by up to 25% of doctors, 15% of dentists and 12% of physiotherapists and nurses.*

Healthcare has very specific needs and Apple is developing tools and focusing on solutions specifically for your requirements. In the Healthcare Solutions Center you will be able to experience the latest technical innovations...

It could be some sort of dictation system... The newton 2 may be back!!!!

Seriousley though - Ive done a fair bit of work experience and taster things, in a few hospitals near where I live (northern England), and Ive seen lots of windoze pcs, but no Macs. Ive only ever seen one in medical soaps.

it could be that I dont get to see them, as a lowly volunteer/6th former though... :(
(not to mention that Ive only seen the less glamorous hospitals regularly, so theyre unlikely to get much).

One worry might be that here in the UK, I find that the NHS tends to pay top dollar for shoddy or unnecesary merchandice. Itd be nice to see them get some decent equipment for a change :)

No, that was a little blurb for the mac-expo in paris. They were talking about europe and france specifically. Here in the u.s. a lot of dental office do use macs... because duhhhh, there is some pretty good dental software out there for the mac.

http://www.mangodental.com/ is another that is os x native.

There are probably 5 others that work on system 9.

We took a big hit in 2003 when kodak bought up the biggest dental software company practiceworks and canned the mac offering.

When the color imacs came out there was a big push to adding color to medical offices since it helped patients and relieved stress and pain or something like that. So, quite a few dental offices did switch to the mac. How many still use it is a different story.
