Anyone remember way back, when apple printers used to start up on thier own?

I have been thinking that maybe Apple (or someone) could bring back that feature i used to love it but when my printer died i was sad to see that go.

any thoughts on that?
 
Yes. yes I do.... ah, those were the good ol' days..... aw, crap, I sound like some really old, bitter guy.... dang.

I suppose that it just saves energy.... my Epson 880 printer has a "low power saving mode" when it's not printing..... the light is on, and there's some sort of tiny noise from it.... but that's it..... and I can turn it off, totally.... so I bet it's more of a power-saving move, since printers are like that all the time now.....

Though, I have to admit, it IS cooler having a printer looking totally dead suddenly spring to life, print, and then fall completley silent again.
