Apple Store

The Late: SuperMacMod
Posting from King of Prussia store on a G5 1.8. Nice machine. My drool is covering the keyboard.

:)

Home now - actually I wasn't impressed with the G5 1.8 Ghz after moving over to a G4 1.25 Ghz machine. I wouldn't buy a G5 unless Apple bumped up the speed quite a bit.

All I did was open almost all the apps on the G5 and G4 and there didn't seem to be much difference to me.

i had the same feelings when using a 1.6 at microcenter in fairfax, va

oh well, at least they are progressing *shrugs*

You can't possibly appreciate the speed difference between a G4 and a G5 unless you are actually doing something with it. By doing something with it, I mean rendering video or an animation, or encoding an MP3 or using photoshop.
The latest G4s are plenty fast for the basics..which is all you're going to get to do when using a machine in a store.

I can tell you, I appreciated the speed of the G5... over my iMac running 10.2! I just wish we had an Apple Store near here, the closest we've got is CompUSA and Mac Daddy's.

I don't know why but it seems to me that some Mac fellas like to take out their own eyes by themselves...

We could argue about the difference of a Dual 1.25/1.42 compared with a Single G5 running whatever but saying that one cannot see a difference when comparing a G5 and a G4 by simply loading all the apps, hmmmmmmm

Now, where is my Dual G5? :p

In San Tropez, on the dark side of the moon, behind the wall, obscured by clouds, with several small species of animals in a cave grooving with a Pict... or just not shipped yet.

Remember, the dual G4's are just that: dual processor machines, running on an OS optimized for dual processors. Despite the fast technologies the G5 towers have (RAM speed, hyperthreading, etc.), it's still essentially only (and I use that term loosely) 1.6 or 1.8 Ghz, compared to, theoretically, 2.5 or 2.8 Ghz.
