Apple Studio Display 17" problem ... help me please

Two days ago, my display has dropped his brightness and the light on the front panel flashes three times, with the last flash longer.

In apple knowledge base there's written that it's a backlight lamp problem:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=51810

I called an Apple center and they told me that I would have to pay about 810 euro for repair. :( :( :(

A new Apple Studio Display 17" costs 830 euro here in Italy ...

I think I'd better buy a new dispaly.

But my doubt is: when my mac boots or when i wake the display after it has been black, the brightness is ok ... two seconds and the brightness drops down and the front light starts to blink.

Is a real backlight lamp problem?
Anyone with this problem?

Please help me, I dont want to pay this money... My display isn't under warranty since two months ago. :( :( :(

could be that backlight starts out fine, but when it warms up, it causes the trouble.

Does this happen only when you bring it from a sleep? Try turning off the display when you shut down the computer. Then when you need the computer on, remember to turn on the display.

If it continues - you might be better off with a new display and a warranty that goes with it. Maybe you ought to get the extended care for it also.

I can't turn off the display.
It has an ADC connector and so it turns off automatically when the mac turns off.

Anyway I've already tried to let it grow cool, but nothing changes.
