Apple Superbowl Ads....

Somewhere... dunno though
In a USA Today article about the Superbowl and what it does to companies who run ads during this time, it said that in 1984, when Apple ran it's "1984" ad, the next day, Apple sold out of many of it's products and it was a major hit with all who saw the ad!

now... that was '84...

why didn't Apple decide to run an ad showcasing the iMac, 1 GHz PowerMac G4, iBook, and iPod?! you could throw it all in there with some hypnosis effect and Apple would slide up to 50% market share!

oh well... let's wait until next year...

Plus their ads just aren't as striking anymore. They're way too tame and dull. Compare the white background, spinning iMac with Jeff's calm voice-over to the 1984 commercial. Would these appeal to the same audiences?

different times, different audience. "1984" was truly innovative and broke traditional molds. Harder to do nowadays with a jaded computer-savy (in their own minds at least) public.

Would've liked to see some genius come up with SOMETHING like the "84" spot though...
