applet causing problems?

A family member (no names) accepted an applet from a website a couple of days ago which *seems* to have caused instability in my system. At first I was (suddenly) getting long hangs at start up which I resolved by running diskwarrior and repairing permissions. However, I still have other issues with audio dropouts etc in a music environment that depends on a finely tuned system. Everything was perfect, and perfectly stable, before the applet was accepted. How do I find the applet and delete it? I've done search by date but it doesn't show up. I do have a cloned system drive from before this occurred and could copy over the relevant folder...but don't know which one. (The clone is not so up to date so I would rather not copy it over entirely). I assume it is a Java applet the website installed for functionality. Don't understand Java at all.
Thanks for any insight.
