Application Launch Failure

I am trying to install my HP printer drivers on a relatively clean install of Mac OS X 10.5.5 and I consistently get the following error each time, even with freshly downloaded drivers: 'Application Launch Failure The application"PSC 700 SeriesInstaller" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "<BaseInstaller Carbon<>BaseInstaller Carbon><CarbonLib><" '

I have successfully without issue installed these drivers previously on the same laptop. I do not understand what is happening this time around, I am just starting to learn Mac OS, and am a switch from the Microsoft virus. I have my OS X running on a Dell Inspriron 1525 as it is able to operate with most all peripherals operating, with the exception of the flash card reader, HDMI, ethernet port, and modem. WiFi works along with USB and that's all I need.

Any help you could provide me in getting the HP drivers installed would be appreciated, but PLEASE don't go and start ragging on me for running mac on a dell, I'm not rich enough to afford a comparable mac book....unless you want to send me the nearly $3000 it would cost for the equivalent of the power I spent $900 on for a dell.
