Application won't launch in Classic

Hi,

I've two childrens games (Casper and JumpStart by Knowledge Adventures) my son used to run under MacOS 9, which won't launch in Classic on my iMac/450 running 10.1.1. What happens is, it tries to launch but then a dialog box tells me I need at least 2MB of temporary storage on my harddrive,
delete some files and try again. I have about 3GB of free storage on my drive which should do fine. I've tried with numerous variations of extension loaded (Extension Manager) with Classic (MacOS 9.2.1) but they're all the same. It works fine if I reboot in MacOS 9 mode (wich resides on a different partition), but not in Classic. It also launches alright on my iBook/300 wich still is on version 10.1 and where MacOS 9 is on the same partition as OS X. As I see it, I have two major differencies here (beside the hardware) and that is that the iBook is not upgraded to 10.1.1 and that os X and OS 9 are on the same partition.
Does anybody has any idea of what could be causing this?

TIA

well, my 1st suggestion is probably not the answer here but i wonder what you've got to lose by moving up to 9.2.2? it probably won't fix it, but it seems like a reasonable first shot to try. my other suggestion would be to defragment and optimize your drive. you may just not have a big enough free block for the particular games to use efficiently. I've been amazed over time that this simple procedure cures so many assorted weirdnesses. (not sure weirdnesses is really a word, but you get the idea, right?) suggestion 1 will probably go much faster if you do suggestion 2 first.
