are plist's "cross-plattform"?

maybe it isn't called different plattforms, but will a panther Mail.app plist perform the same actions in Mail.app in Tiger...? and the same for safari. i'm asking since theese two apps have been updated with Tiger..

can i use my Panther mail.plist to copy accounts, rules etc.. and bookmarks for safari?

I think the bookmarks aren't in Safari's plist file, but basically: Yes, you can just move those prefs over from a backup of your user's files.
