Associating downloads with a program - Firefox

Hi,

I am using firefox as my browser on a 1.42 GHz G4 mini. When I download a torrent file to open it immediately (rather than save to my desktop) I have to choose the program I would like to use. When I did it the first time, I checked the box telling the mac to use this program every time. The program, transmission, is associated if I open the torrent from the desktop, but I would like to be able to save a step. Is there a trick or some sort of step I am missing in associating a file download within firefox? Thanks in advance for any help.

I found MisFox useful after I had mistakenly assigned an application as the default for a file type. I found no way to change it to a different app.

Hmm tried that and it still doesn't seem to work, though that does seem like a useful program that I'll keep around. Thanks for the suggestion.


I did fix the problem though, by changing a setting in the download preferences of firefox. I only had to set firefox to open torrents with the default app, rather than the app that I had specified, even though they are the same app. I'm glad I fixed the problem, but I'm still mystified as to why it works this way.

I think MisFox is most useful for changing the definition of the default app.
