hi,
My old laptop is dead and I bought a new one. The dvd drive on the old one is patched to be rpc1. Because the region check on my new Matsushita drives don't allow dvd reading in data mode rpc is not an option for me. So, I'd like to connect my old dvd drive externally with a caddy or converter cable. The problem, is that the connector is not a normal IDE connector of any kind. If you look at the attached pic (I know the ruler is hard to see, but the first number is a five, so the slot is about 4 cm long and the connector itself is about 2. The connector to the motherboard is made by foxconn and says"JP3 to MLB," whatever that means. I've gone to foxconn and can't even find anything about mlbs or jp3s. The connector has no pins, only 24 metal leads on top and 24 on bottom instead of pins which must make contact with those on the male connector. Does anyone know how I can connect my dvd drive externally?
thanks
