Audible has released new AudibleReady devices that allow Mac OS X users running iTunes 4 to download and listen to audiobooks, audio editions of newspapers, magazines and more onto audio-enabled handhelds from palmOne and Sony running Palm OS 5. Also, every Mac user who's running Mac OS X and iTunes 4 and who owns a supported Palm OS handheld will be offered a free trial AudibleListener membership. The membership gives users any two audiobooks from Audible's collection of 6,000 titles—or one audiobook and one 1-month subscription to any of the programs in Audible's Subscription Center, an Internet audio news kiosk for subscribing to audio editions of national newspapers, magazines, original shows and public radio programs.
I just checked audible.com and nothing on the site has been updated but this is great. While I keep all of my audio books on my iPod, this does give mac owners the same option as PC owners.
There's times when it would be nice to have the option to load a book onto your Palm and listen to it aloud without the need for headphones or an external speaker/broadcast setup.
