Auto-update difficulties

I am having problems with the auto-update, which is programmed into all of the computers, and is malfunctioning on one, and I can not figure out why. It should automatically update the old software, and trade out the old icons with the new ones, but it is not working. Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this?
