Through disc utility I installed a raid mirror set of two external drives. Later, after using the combined drive, I opened disc utility again and selected 'Automatically Rebuild RAID mirror set'. I didn't select that while installing the raid set, but did that afterwards. Later discovered that when reconnecting a drive this would automatically update the drive again.
This option 'Automatically rebuild raid mirror set' stays selected while in disc utility. However, when I close and later open disc utility again this option is deselected again. Is this normal? Or does this option remain active when selected and closing disc utility and is it just that disc utility assumes that I've removed/connected one or more drives in the mean time when starting disc utility again? Giving me the option to select it again manually in order to rebuild the raid mirror?
