Whats the best app to use? Ive used Toast but i get a fuzzy DVD. Are there any other good apps out there (preferably freeware :p)

Thanks !

I've only started doing AVI to DVD on a Mac and have used Toast with great results. Part of your problem may be the quality of the AVI file ... you will never get an AVI file to look as crisp as a DVD (at least I don't think you will). Is the AVI file a "DVD quality" file?

ffmpegX is probably a bit better than Toast quality-wise (although it's a lot harder to use). But like Rob said, you're limited by the quality of the AVI. The quality can only go down in conversion, and most AVIs have much lower quality than the source materials used to encode professional DVDs.

Oh, and when encoding DVDs with ffmpegX, be sure you have a ton of free disk space. Is uses a lot of swap files, so you'll need 3x-4x the size of the final product. That means about 12-17GB of free space for a full single-layer DVD.
