Backup problem

Hello, and thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer me.

I've been using Backup for a while (I'm now up to Backup 3.1.2, v374) on an iMac (bought new in May 2006) running OS 10.4.11

It's been doing monthly backups of iLife (iPhoto is the main concern here; the iPhoto Library is 1.39MB big) without any problem until this evening. All that appears on the console is:
Connected to .Mac
Begin backup at 2009-03-14 21:12:19.041 +0000
Scanning files...
Acquired a destination for the backup.
End backup at 2009-03-14 21:12:25.024 +0000

...and in the backup log:
2009-03-14 21:12:24.973 Backup[184] *** Assertion failure in -[ZXDiskImageTarget isRoomForCreationOfBytes:errorMessage:infoMessage:], /SourceCache/BackupProject/BackupProject-374/Engine/ZXDiskImageTarget.m:1097

Foolishly I have deleted all the existing Backup files from my iDisk (in the mistaken belief that it was a "disk full" problem), and I am unable to do a full Backup now -- the problem described above is affecting incremental backups as well as full backups. Curiously the problem is not affecting Personal Files and Settings backups -- I have done both an incremental backup and a full backup successfully.

Unfortunately the iPhoto Library is too big to be copied across by itself to my iDisk.

Any suggestions as to how to proceed?

Many thanks,

Manchester2009.
