battery charge problem???

Hi All,

I just got a Al Powerbook 15" (1GHz). Also, I did a system update. After that I noticed that, with a fully charged battery, it only shows 2:10min of time left... Currently, I am using an Airport Extreme card and also the bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Could you guys give me some estimate on how long you can use your machine? I haven't checked the battery hour without the keyboard and mouse but I woudn't think simple bluetooth devices would drain that much power from PB.

Thanks,

Have you funnly charged it when it shows 2:10 ? How bright screen do you use, how many apps do you normally have runnign ..

The 12" pb, with as dark screen as i can see comfortably, with airport, relatively light use gives me 4 hours, sometimes more sometimes less depending on how heavy apps I run.

If it's new new and you've never charged it yet - the battery was fully charged but in the storing time it comes down some, so givin 2:10 could be rougly 40-50 % of battery charge left.

Mine is fully charged: the power adapter ring goes "green." I find it quite strange because my former TiBook gave me >4 hours easily. I did a full discharge-charge with this battery but it still shows very low charge time or is it?
I have my screen brightest all the time and with battery I use "Automatic" option for processor speed. Would turning off the bluetooth give better battery time? (Of course, when I am on travel, I cannot use these anyways...)

Yes. I did the battery update. After fully charging the battery and then if I unplug the power adapter, the battery status shows something like <2:20... which is quite strange for me... When I press the battery check button at the back, it shows it's fully charged. I am not sure whether it's just the problem with the reading...

Damn... I don't like this... It seems I am having quite a bit of problems with my new PowerBookG4... First I noticed a red dot on my screen... Second.. the lid doesn't close all the way... I see some gap when the lid is closed. Especially at the left and the right edges. My Ti PBG4 didn't have such problems... Now the battery problems.... I now wonder whether the computer itself is defective... I did call Apple about the lid problem and the "dead" pixel. I was put on hold for 30 min and the guy simply told me that those "are normal." Considering my two previous Macs did not have such a LCD problem, claiming it to be "normal" sounds like a bad excuse... The guy told me that it was just a cosmetic problem...

I think overall the Apple customer service is pretty bad. Considering they only have 3% market share, they really should be much better at customer service... Dell for example has 30 day satisfaction guarantee (at least they used to): I got a Dell notebook about 5 years ago (still works) and it had a "dead" pixel. I called Dell Customer service: They not only gave me some money back (after some discussions) for my trouble, they sent a technican to my office at work and replaced the LCD right on my desk. Now, that's a service!

hmm I just noticed that the battery on my iBook G4 is wacked out now I updated a few days ago, this is the first time ive had it unplugged and it started out at about 2 hours, Used to be 4+.

I just reinstalled the battery update, the pkg can be found on apples support page. im getting 3:30 right now, which is a little better.
