Battery charging dangers?

With my iBook G4 is there any risk of damaging the battery by leaving it charging too long? Or to put it another way, about how long should it take to charge from empty? I seem to remember reading of batteries bursting into flames in iBooks some time ago.)

You can leave your computer plugged in as much as you want, the computer is smart enough to know when to stop charging. Plus I'd say leave it plugged in as long as you can so you can get more out of your battery. From my experience it usually takes two hours to get a full charge, but it also depends on how much battery life your battery has left.
