Is it safe to swap an iBook's battery while the computer is sleeping and connected to external power? Will this freak out the charging circuits?

Hrmm... I found a technot article on Apple saying that you could not swap batteries while in OS X on PowerBook G3s and G4s... but no word of iBooks....

awww, crap! Excuse me and my stupidity. I read over the tech note again, and found this quote...
"Solution
Connect to your AC power adapter or shut down to change batteries."
Apparently if swap batteries while sleeping and plugged in, you'll be just fine. Sorry if this was inconvenient.
