Belkin KVM Switch

...the Belkin USB KVM Switch (now featuring on the Apple site) works really well with both a PowerMac, and a Windows XP PC. You have to "press" the toggle on the switch to work between these different PCs...

More importantly however, I have found that my "Tiger" PowerMac G4 FW800 doesn't like this device and crashes (not too often, but is certainly prone to crash). Also, the PowerMac has great problems in recognising my new Mac Keyboard (bought at Christmas) when I reinstalled Tiger.

...a useful workaround is to install a USB 2.0 Hub on the PowerMac, and connect the output USB connectors of the Hub and the KVM Switch into the PowerMac as normal. By just connecting the Keyboard and Mouse (both seperately) into the USB Hub input, the Belkin Switch (with no keyboard or mouse connected - only the Monitor cable) will still operate correctly, and the crashing stops.

When you want to "toggle" just reconnect the keboard and mouse to the KVM Switch first.

Has anybody else experienced any of these problems please?

Steve
