Black boxes coming up everywhere.

I'm running OS 10.4.8 on a G5 Quad (4GB RAM, and 7800GT video card).

I've been running 10.4.8 since it was made available, and starting yesterday I'm getting a black box outline over anything I select, both in the finder, and when working in applications. The annoying thing is that the black box doesn't always disappear when a window or document is opened over the selection. Example: I can select a file on my desktop, open it, and the black box will remain visible even after the file is open. The same goes for selecting an item in list and scrolling... the black box will still be visible even after the selection has been scrolled out of the window.

I've repaired my permissions, run Onyx...

Here are few sample screen shots I did while typing this. The black boxes remained after scrolling the page.

Any ideas on what's going on?

I think you have speech turned on in universal access - something like that, anyway.

Try Command - F5 to toggle on and off.
