Bleh at this up-to-date program

So I went to perform a clean install of osx 10.2 on my iBook with the upgrade disk that i got for $20 from the apple up to date program and it made me install 10.1 first and then upgrade to 10.2. I find this totally inconvenient. Why couldn't the 10.2 update cd just ask you to put in the 10.1 cd and find it as a valid upgrade, why does it have to be installed to my harddrive first? I don't understand this approach. I guess its so they can sell more copies of 10.2 for the price of $129? Bleh.....I'm just whining now =/

I was of the impression that the retail boxed version will install straight off the disk, but versions obtained through the "up-to-date" program will be updaters.

I figured that if i ever needed to freshly install 10.2 it would just ask me sometime during the install for the os 10.1 disc...but i was wrong, that's why i'm bitching, hehe.
