Boot me up Scotty!

I replaced a dying original hard drive on my 20" iMac G5 ALS--put in a Seagate Barracuda 1TB sata drive. Took a couple of times, but got the previously existing OS (10.4) to install. Now my Mac won't boot up to this new drive, only to the C drive. I just get a gray screen, and in a few seconds the fan cranks up. Help!

I have a 10.4 install disk. That's what I meant. Since I was running 10.4.11 when I backed up my data, i figured it would be best to re-install 10.4 and update it before migrating my data back onto the disk. After all of that was safely done, I would have then upgraded the OS to 10.5.
