bottlom line- should i buy a new powerbook?

I was really waiting for an announcement regarding new powerbooks, needless to say I was disappointed.
Now there are some new threads suggesting that a new G5 powerbook/iBook is right around the corner. I am not sure I believe that but....

Should I buy a new powerbook?!?

'right around the corner' and Q2/2005 doesn't match. Also, if (if!) there will be a PowerBook G5 mid-year, this doesn't say anything about whether there'd be an updated G4 notebook sooner. I'd go iBook right now, because it looks like the PowerBooks are too expensive right now.

I agree, except that I'd go with the Mac mini if


  • You don't already have a Mac,
  • You already have a monitor, keyboard and mouse and
  • You need portability, but you don't really need to work on the road
because it'll be a lot cheaper and more portable. Plus, when you later get a Powerbook, you can keep the Mac mini at home as a server/media centre/etc.
