Bravenet

well, the quest for yahoo decentralization continues.

The good thing is that the only thing that remains on my site that is yahoo-only code is the guestbook ( and probably a few CGI scripts). Now I went to bravenet and found that they seem to provide some nice (free) guestbooks, polls, counters and all the trimmings.

Anyone have any experiences with them?

i'm currently doing my site with many elements from Bravenet... their hosting is good (and damn cheap without ads) and i've been using them since their beginning...

definitely a GREAT site to do work with...

http://centreavenue.bravepages.com is what i'm working with now... sorta like a "Music, Movies, and More" website that will be done entirely in flash...

I love flash ;)
The last time I used it I made a nice killer animated menu for my web site :D

I removed it though cause people needed to do installations back then (it wasnt as big as now). Also I did not know how to optimize it and in 56k connections it took 30-40 seconds to load (on the internet that is eternity :p) -- so I removed it. I need to learn how to optimize when I get the time :)

on my personal site, all my extras that still work are bravenet. almost everybody in the pagan community uses them and they are pretty good. very good for free. they just sent me an email reporting they had been hacked about a week ago wut had caught it in time to stop most major damage. they back up everything once a week so the most you are likely to lose is a weeks worth of stats or guestbook sigs.

i give them a thumbs up.:)

Havent used flash MX bling, any good ?
(how much does it cost? :p -- the most "up to date" version of flash that I have is flash 4 --- maybe its time for an upgrade lol)

I think I will be using bravenet starting with my next update. I have too much to do at the moment for this update :) ...

I will register though, (i think) now, or sooner rather than later, and use the stuff later on.

I also found a site called 50megs.com that offeres 50 MB of web storage with FTP access for free :D (I am kinda reluctant about leaving yahoo at the moment since I have yahoo dependent code still)
