browser oddities

Hope someone can help: Using OS10.2.6 on a LAN. WIn2000 server. Have put in all required proxy settings etc. Can browse the internet fine in explorer except for any ftp or secure sites. Also, cannot use any other browser except explorer. Have tried Safari, Mozilla - get the same message "there is a problem with the page you are trying to reach ...." etc. Yet explorer goes through.

Anyone got any clues?

Where did you put the proxy settings in? Explorer has its own proxy configuration that is separate to the ones set in System Preferences.

Thanx for coming back. I put them in both. Hoping that Safari would pick up from System Prefs, and Explorer has it's own.
