bus, cache, backside, frontside, on-chip

I have to clear this up!
What is the system bus in(inside) a mac?
What is the backside and frontside cache for?
On-chip L2-L3 cache, whatever!
I mix all theese up all the time!
Somebody has to clear this up in a simple way!
This may sound like a dumb question, and it is. The reason I ask here is that I can't find an answer anywhere else!
