Hi Forum,
I've had a look through the archives but to no avail, many thx in advance for any advice.

Moving to a house share where there is broadband piped through NTL (cable), currently hooked up to a PC.

I have a Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5 running version 10.4.8. I need to buy, as I understand it, two pieces of kit to get my Mac to receive wireless internet connection. I've searched the web and there seem to be many potential issues with regards to certain gear being either slow, having weak signal strength, working at all or throwing up security concerns.

As a complete novice to this subject, can the forum recommend which gear to get and tips re set up in an attempt to try and make this transition as painless and trouble free as possible.

A reliable internet connection is essential for my business I need to get this addressed as soon as possible with few glitches.

Thanks again for your time and help....

Wireless is by nature much slower than a wired connection.
That being said, you'll want a wireless G router. Wireless B is slow, and your mac doesn't have wireless N technology. Linksys makes good stuff, and the Apple Airport and Airport Express are good products, but a bit expensive.
