Calculator problems

Anybody had problems with the Calculator.app? When I launch Calculator the menu comes up but no calculator. Turning on Show paper tape finally brings up the window. Switching to Graphing view just shows a blank window with buttons, nothing else.

Zammy,

Quick response - thanks. Unfortunately, that file does not exist anyway. I think the problem is more fundamental than that. But thanks for your help. I use KoalaCalc as a substitute, but curiosity never hurt anyone, and it would be nice to know what the problem is.

You mean there is no com.apple.calculator.plist file in your Preferences? What if you open calculator.app and then search for that file again? I am very positive the file will be created if it wasn't there before.
The thing is that many software related problems are very tough to be reproduced and understood. It can be a set of access problems or simply some errors in the settings. I gave up the idea to find the reason for certain problems. Now I am happy when I can fix it. ;)
If a problem is more complicated than some access errors or problems with settings (first can be fixed by repairing the disk permissions and second by deleting the plist files) one should reinstall the whole application. If that doesn't help there must be another application that is disturbing. In such cases a fresh user account might help to find the problem..

Hmm... Maybe the app itself is broken... Have someone on iChat using the same OS X version as yourself? Let him/her send you the application (maybe as a StuffIt or ZIP file), delete the .plist file again and try again...

Lol I have you on iChat but you're busy...a friend just got an iBook by the way, YAY! He'll have it, if he comes back online.
