Can I change my hard drive?

My computer froze when I was doing some weekly diagnostics, and there was a power outage at the same time. I think my HD got fried.

Praise the Lord, I have an external HD, which I finally figured out how to use to get online (startup with option key held). It's working for now. I have used several CDs at startup (TechTool Deluxe, Norton, Disk Warrior. I've tried reformatting the computer's HD. I've tried putting in the original CD I got with Tiger. The original HD just doesn't want to work right now.

Is it possible to change the hard drive in my iMac?

I have the 17" silver necked iMac. Apple iMac, G4, 800MHz, SD RAM 1 GB, 80 GB HD, CD-RW/DVD-R superdrive, OSX 10.4.8

If you aren't comfortable taking apart your iMac, by all means, find a professional.

You'll need to get an Ultra ATA or compatable drive to replace what you have.
