Hi,

I've got a powerbook 1.5 running Tiger..

I have the power management set to power adapter.
display sleep set to never

but when I leave the laptop untouched (with music playing and I'm reading a pdf), the screen diims every now and then and i have to touch the trackpad to make it bright again..

can i avoid this ?

I understand your irritation but I would never try to defeat this on my Powerbook. Not so much for the energy conservation but to preserve the life of the screen (mainly the backlight). If you defeat it you'll have to remember to "undefeat" it in all other cases.

I'm sure there's a way though if you delve into the system internals.

Open Terminal, and type "man pmset" without the quotes.
The command you're looking for is "halfdim"

So the command "sudo pmset halfdim 0", again without the quotes, should defeat the screen dimming.

to simbalala -- thanks for your concern... but I thought about the pros & cons before I asked the question.
