Can Mac display on remote machine

With X windows, I can set my DISPLAY variable to some remote machine's X server address and then open X clients and their windows will show up on the remote display. I use this when I work from home. I can set my display variable to my home address and then start up xterm and its windows shows up on my screen at home.

Can the native Mac window system do that? According to the Cocoa book I have, the Mac window system defines everything in terms of PDF concepts. If that is the case, then it should be able to pump the PDF across a wire to a remote display. It sure would be nice to do that.

Note: I understand that there is an X window server for the Mac and you can do what I describe with that but what I'm talking about is, for example, with Quicken. Have it pop up its windows on a remote Mac display.

Thank you,
