Hi. I have an old first generation tibook g4 mac with two 512 mb dimms. I also have an old 12 inch dual USB iBook g3 500 mhz with 324 mb of RAM.

Can I
a. put a 512 mb dimm in my iBook to upgrade it is to 750 something? Or is the memory required in the iBook completely different?

b. can I take out the memory for the iBook in put it into my aging tibook and still have it boot into Mac OS X? (I just want to make it into a photo display unit)

Any advice or places to find out appreciated. Eric.

Take the DIMMs out and compare them. The first thing to compare is whether they'd _physically_ fit into the same slots. Then, there's the speed for which the RAM has been certified. Generally, I think if they don't work, they simply don't work. I haven't ever seen RAM "burnt" by simply trying out. So if they fit physically, you can simply test them...

thanks fryke, I'll try however I did Finally find the specs

my tibook pc100 so DIMM

ibook pc133 ddr DIMM

so I am doubtful it will work.

The iBook's RAM could theoretically work in the TiBook, if they're physically the same, but not the other way 'round.
