Cannot play videos from Sky News website

Videos just refuse to play in my usual Safari browser. I've also tried Firefox, i.Cab & Camino browsers, without success. I have Realplayer & Qicktime installed, plus Flip4Mac.
I have also tried Camino, set to MSIE6, still no result.
Please can you advise?

What format are Sky News' videos? Have you asked them about support in Safari, Firefox etc. on the Mac?

I assume that you're referring to this site:
http://news.sky.com/skynews

It looks like a case of a windows format problem. For me, it quits with an error on WMP 9, and nothing happens with Flip4Mac. It probably works with the latest version of WMP, which Microsoft no longer makes for Mac. I'd contact the webmaster and ask them to post their videos in a format that works for everyone.

Yep, it's another case of a video provider offering their content in some weird format. On the outside it looks like a .WMV, but that's where compatibility ends. Flip4Mac does a pretty good job with most of the sites, but there are still too many that offer up the odd stuff and don't conform to the standard.
Send an email to support@flip4mac.com and ask to have this site considered for compatibility in their next update.

I tried helping Leslie on the Tech side, but wasn't able to.

I can view the videos on http://news.sky.com/skynews/home using Safari (2.0.4(419.3) with no problems. (10.4.8)

Using the exact same version of Safari, and all the latest updates from RealPlayer, Flip4Mac, Flash, etc, it isn't working. Attached are my install plugins..

Yeah, I'm having the same problem with the National Geographic website... unable to view their videos due to a lack of some unknown plug-in. It's disappointing. I've installed Firefox, Flash Player and Windows Micromedia. I'm going to contact National Geo directly and ask them for a suggestion

Nat. Geographic videos working fine here. Are you sure you have the latest flash, etc, and installed then in firefox?

I thought at first it was my Mac but now that I know I am not the only one!

I accessed skynews on a regular basis and I cannot view any of the videos posted using my mac. Eric2006, I tried to download that zip file but it doesnot work. Any other suggestion?

The other thing is that I am trying to listen to the radio via this website:
www.beurfm.net
ane everytime I click onto the link - an error message appears. Can anybody explain this? or do I resort to writing long emails explaining this phenomenon to beurfm?

Now that I've taken a "break", I'll try installing flash, etc again. I thought I'd installed to Firefox, but perhaps not............It's encouraging to hear that National Geo videos work for you!

thanks for the feedback.

Carlos

Cheers Eric2006.
Yeah the link to the video you gave miraculously work. BUT if you go straight to the website and click onto any of the video channels, none of them works. http://news.sky.com/skynews/home/0,,,00.html
This was my original question.

The second link you gave on beurfm. Nothing happened (as in I was in the site - it runs and everything but no sound). radio played for 1 minute or something but nothing else...
