I changed the name of my home folder with the help of the apple help line by creating a new user account and copying the content of the old home folder into the new one. All applications worked well after changing some of the read/write permissions and adding the new user to some of the file infos. Then I put the new account on automatic login, and shut down my computer.
Now it does not start up anymore. I repaired permissions with disk utility from the start up disk, but same problem. It starts up and after a while of nothing visible happening with the spinning wheel on, it restarts with the start up sound, and this goes on forever until I press the turn off buttons for a few seconds. When I press option on start in, I can choose the start up disk, that way I could get into my window partition and post this question. I have no back up at present due to some difficulties with time machine, so I would really like to get it going somehow.
Is there a way to get out of automatic login and login as the other old user? And how would I make the new user work with automatic login?
Help help help...please...
thanx
