cant delete file. got error

Move the file onto your desktop and do these things:
Open the terminal.app
type "sudo rm " without the quotes and then drag your file you want to delete onto the terminal window.
The path of the file will be put into the terminal for you.
Hit enter
type in your administrator password
the file will be deleted.

seems to me unix is as much a pain as dos is.

No problem.
OS X is in it's infancy still and you can't expect things to be perfect yet. I'm sure Apple will fix these little bugs with files being owned by root or something when they shouldn't be.
