I'm trying to do file sharing between my windows xp box and my powerbook, both of which are accessing the internet via ip masq through my 2.2.18 linux box.
Here are some things I did to debug the problem, but still with no success:
According to the info I've read "MacOSX: The Missing Manual" I have set the workgroup of the smb client on my machine to MSHOME just as it is on the xp machine. I have tried both doing Go->Connect to Server both with and without using the IP of the winxp box.
I also made sure that I enabled windows file sharing on the xp box and enabled it on the powerbook. I made sure that the folder on my xp box that I'm trying to access is shared.
When it times out, I get the following error message:
Connecting to afp://192.168.0.2
An error has occured (error = -3)
I know that I can see the machines, because I was able to FTP from the winxp box to the powerbook. I just don't know why smb is not working. Thanks for your help.
