Can't get epson 740 to print

When printing with this in os 10.1, print center has an error " Your print job failed to print due to an internal error. Try printing the document again." I can print in classic 9.2.1 but not in x any solutions

I know, this is like the 'is it plugged in?' sort of thing, but:

When I updated to 10.1.1, for some reason the print center forgot I had an epson 740 still. Just had to go through the process of discovering a new USB printer, adding it to the list again, and then it all worked (for two days, then my ink cartridge ran out, I can only print in colours now, no black )

print center would not retain my selection of the 740 or my girlfriend's selection of 777 until we moved the docks back to the bottom. Having the dock on the bottom also causes some other weird defects in appleworks 6.2.1 which appear to be fixed in 6.2.2. if yo have your dock on the side, this might help.

My dock is on the bottom! How in the world did you discover this one? Whew!

I'm no expert, but I would call this one a 10.1.1 bug.

I found it on the apple discussion support group for osx when I first discovered a problem printing. I could have tried fixing it for days without ever even considering such an insane fix!! It is definitly a BUG!! The problem as it relates to appleworks has been fixed with the release of 6.2.2 last week. I haven't tried moving it back to the side to see if still effects printing in any other apps. sorry that wasn't it for you. I know there are a couple of other threads about the 740 and printing in general on this site. maybe a search for them would help you. Printing is one of those things you don't worry about til you need it, and then its a panic if you can't get it to work quickly!!
