can't get .gif to "animate" in email signature w/ mail/entourage ?

PC switcher to OS X Mac:
can't get animated .gifs to be "animated." When i put a .gif in my email signature (w/ either mail or entourage emails programs), I only see fixed pic .gif w/ no movement.

How do I get .gifs to animate???????
 
To my knowledge a gif will only animate when used on the internet. You could try making sure your entourage has "html" send and receive enabled…
