can't hear or burn from itunes

itunes will play aif and mp3s, but i can not hear anything. i see the meters bouncing and the time lapsing, but nothing. same with my audio program, (cubase sx). itunes will also not recognize blank cd-rs to burn/back-up my data.

anyone with some suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

if it helps, i have a delta 44 sound card

I don't know anything about the delta 44 sound card, but I belive I can still help you. Let me know what is your system and what software you are using, why you picked another sound card, how it's plugged, if other applications play back sound...
