Can't Open Mail

About a month ago I had a crash and since then I can't download any mail in OSX Mail through my POP address. I can send out mail. My .mac e-mail works fine.

Also I can send and receive from OS9 Entourage. This seems to point to a problem with the OSX drive. But I installed a second drive today and installed Jaguar on it and the same problem occurs on this new drive with freshly installed OSX.

What does this mean? All the other programs work fine. Hardware problem? Software? Your help would be much appreciated.

I recently had a very similar experience with Mail.app. Restarts, reinstalls of Mail.app did not help.

Oddly enough, the solution for me was to go into the Network Preference Pane, and create a new Location that only enabled my modem (I usually connect via Ethernet). I then restarted, and switched back to my original Location. Mail.app then worked fine.

This may not be the solution to your problem, but it's worth a try! :D
