Can't open .mpkg files

When I try to open .mpkg files it says their isn't a specified application to open the document, I know it's usually the Apple Installer that open's .mplg files but for some reason I can't find it on my mac.

Download Pacifist (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12743)

Insert your OS X install CD and click "Open Mac OS X Install Packages"

On the window that appears, expand 'Contents of BaseSystem.pkg', then 'Applications' and then 'Utilites'.

Click on Installer.app and click the Install button at the top of the window.

I believe this is what you are looking for.
