Last week we did an upgrade to Tiger. All seems to have gone fine.
Yesterday though we found that this Quicksilver will not restart from the finder commands, nor will it shutdown. The finder appears to quit, the menus dissappear but then machine seems to sort of freeze there on the Desktop image. The mouse still moves but you cannot do anything with it. The only way to shut down the computer is to push the power button.
Just got a Tiger Diskwarrior disk today hoping that this might take care of the problem. No.
Also I cannot startup the machine from a startup disk. Not the Tiger install, not Diskwarrior. After killing the power and trying to restart with a startup disk in the CD drive, the machine spits it out (when the C key is held down) and starts up off the hard drive. Everything works fine when it's running.
After again shutting down via the power button and starting in safe mode I was able to load Disk Utilities CD and Diskwarrior and run both.
Unfortunately no change.
Is this a hardware problem?
Can anyone help?
