can't send or forward mail

I can't send or forward mail. After I compose a new message or press forward
the blank email template comes up with To: Cc: Subject: etc but above that there are no Send, Save as Draft etc buttons so I can't send the message. The keyboard shortcut for sending also doesn't work.

However if I reply to a message everything comes up normal and I am able to send the message.

There is no error message. There is simply no Send option when I have a blank email I am composing.

FYI: I am on a 4-month old Intel Mac Mini running 10.4.8.

Has anyone else had this problem? This just started happening to me a few hours ago. I didn't install any software or change anything. Went out to dinner, came back and tried to forward an email on. And couldn't do it.

Any help much appreciated.

are you using Mail or Entourage or another program?

you may also check your mail addresses, I know Entourage keeps the send button faded is the address is not recognised

I'm just using Mail. I still have the problem so if anyone has any suggestions for fixing it let me know. I guess I will just have to delete Mail, reinstall and see if it still happens.

In general reinstalling a program will not help solving the solution, unless it erases the configuration files. Better check the accounts, most likely something went wrong there. Otherwise make a new account and use that for testing ... Also check smtp (outgoing mail) server.

Also check if the program fills in the sender field, otherwise this might cause the problem.
