I enabled VPN on the server but it wasn't working corectly so I decided to stop the vpn service because my machine was acting up horribly! It would take 30 seconds to open a program and stuff like that. the vpnd process was taking up 60%-100% of my cpu so when I hit "stop vpn" in server admin, it asked whether i was sure I wanted to do that so I hit stop now.

Long story short it didn't stop. Please help!

AH HA! Here's the command to list the services you are running:

/sbin/service --list

And in my case, I ran the following command to stop the VPN service:
sudo /sbin/service com.apple.ppp.pptp stop

For some reason not only did it stop the service, but it didn't start up again when I rebooted which is wierd but good. With Microsoft Windows, it would start again when you reboot but I guess not with a mac.
