Can't upload files to servers- I think it's a Jaguar setting - HELP!

I'll try to be as clear and concise as possible on this. I've uploaded my images for my ebay business many times over the years until yesterday. The image size is only 100k. Never had a problem before until yesterday. I've tried 2 different servers (AOL & eBay's) and 2 different browsers to try and single out the problem. The problem is the same with all.

First, with AOL (IE), I go to keyword "my ftp", choose "see my ftp space" then I click the "upload" button and do the usual, select the image, and hit "send". When I hit the send button is when nothing happens. Usually the image loads right into the server and a progress bar shows the progress of the upload which usually just takes about 5 seconds. Now, the progress bar appears like it's wanting to upload, but after about 1 minute, it just fails.

When uploading to ebays server from Safari, I just basically use ebays built in features so it's not connected to AOL at all. I select the image to upload and it just hangs and finally times out. I've done this many times within the last week or so with no problems. Now, it will not work.

What's stranger is that I have no problem uploading files to friends via email. Web browsing and email downloads and uploads seems unaffected. I can't see it being a problem with AOL or Safari since the same thing happens with ebay's server.

This problem just appeared out of no where. I'm using Mac OS 10.2.3, 512RAM, G4 DDR, if that's all necessary. Any ideas out there? It seems to me it's something with the computer. What could cause this?

Thanks in advance,
Ken (feel free to respond via email)

Try using either an FTP client like RBrowser lite, or use FTP from the terminal. That way, you will get more detailed information about why it isn't working.

Well, to be honest, I have not made any changes in my proxy settings. Earlier advice prompted me to check anyway. Everything appears to be in order. I'm not very savvy though when it comes to all these settings. I do use a firewall, ftp set to PASV, Appletalk is OFF. I use Roadrunner cable modem. Like I said, everything was working fine until a couple days ago. I even trashed the AOL prefs just to be sure........this is strange. Oh, BTW, I called AOL, they say that there have been no reports of uploading problems...figures
Thanks for the replies.
Ken
