Hi all -
Surely this can't be...
Movies captured with the new capture feature of QT7.0 don't seem to be able to be imported into Final Cut Pro.
I think that capturing with QT offers many advantages rather than using FCP to capture (not as much overhead, individual file name control, etc.). So I really wanted to use this new feature. But when I try to import the captured movie into FCP, I get a "file format unknown" error.
However, I have a little program (gCam) that does nearly the same thing as the QT capture. When I tried it (after upgrading to 10.4 and QT7) it worked beautifully and the movie could be imported into FCP no problem.
So I tried to look at the differences in movies captured using QT and gCam. They were identical (DVCPRO - NTSC) except for one thing. QT captured at 640x480 and gCam captured at 720x480. Other than that I really couldn't see any difference in the movie properties.
I think that this is a significant problem. Is there any work-around. Any way to change settings? I sure would like to be able to use QT capture and later import into FCP.
I'd be grateful for any advice.
Peace.
Joel
