Capturing Videos from Digital Camera

I'm using a Canon Powershot S30 digital camera which can record small video clips. I would like to
a) capture the videos via USB-connect to the camera and save them to the hard drive
b) Integrate the videos into quicktime-slideshows

Thank you for any hints about how to do this and which software to use.
 
just run image capture to download them. i dont know anything about quicktime slide shows though
