Card Reader problem

I have a multi-card reader which I have used to download CompactFlash and SmartMedia cards to my previous PC without problems.

I now have an iMac (lovely!) with Snow Leopard, and it downloads the CompactFlash cards ok but refuses to recognise the SmartMedia. Is SM too old hat for 2010? Or am I a driver short of a full grid?

Any help would be appreciated.

Smart Media is a newer format than Compact Flash. It sounds like you are not getting proper electrical contact in the Smart Media slot of the reader.

Thank you MisterMe, but surely Compact Flash is still being manufactured and Smart Media isn't and is therefore now obsolete.

Also, I have two of the readers (it was a BOGOF!), and the Mac doesn't recognise the Smart Media card in either of them even though the light on the card reader changes to indicate that it is reading the card.

And, as I said in my initial message, my PC recognises and reads the Smart Media card ok. I have just tried it again in the PC using both card readers and they both work. But the Mac doesn't recognise it in either card reader, although it does read the Compact Flash card in both readers.

So, can anyone help answer my original question please?
