CD Drive problem w/my Imac G4 700 MHZ flatscreen

My Imac G4 700MHZ flatscreen is having a problem w/the drive. It opens and closes over and over again without stopping. When I re-start it opens and stays open, when I close it...the cycle starts...any ideas?? Using OS 10.3.8
